Working around the mammoth of Siegsdorf in fact opened new perspectives. I gained insight into the current state of knowledge about the evolution of our planet and encountered fascinating recent research. This experience has increased my interest even further. I suddenly started to read articles in newspapers and to follow reports that I probably would not even have noticed before. It also raised important questions on climate change. The study of cave paintings might take me to the replica caves of Altamira and Lascaux in the near future.
All this did not happen when I visited the museum for the first time a couple of years ago. I admired the mammoth skeleton. I remembered it. But I did not take the time to get involved.
